Ricky Patten

Project Manager

 

Ricky has been with the CAU for over twenty years, and is now one of our project managers, overseeing fieldwork and post-excavation for our clients. In his career, he has worked with many types of clients including housing developers, infrastructure contractors, and Cambridge colleges. He has experience in leading both urban and rural projects.

Some highlights of his career have been: 

  • overseeing excavations on Round Church Street in the historic core of Cambridge for Trinity College

  • leading on the archaeological works preceding the redevelopment of Old Court for Clare College and Pump Court for Jesus College, which uncovered remains of medieval religious buildings 

  • leading fieldwork at Earith Quarry, Cambridgeshire and Eyebury Quarry near Peterborough

  • overseeing fieldwork at Trumpington Meadows, Cambridge ahead of major housing development by Gallaghers. 

 

Ricky is also the CAU’s Departmental Safety Officer. He advises on the safety requirements of both our field teams and office staff, and liaises closely with our clients’ safety teams and the University Safety Office. Ricky also manages our accreditation with industry bodies.
